Law and Order UK Work

This is only going to be a small update, I'll post a little more on Wednesday, but I will officially be working on the set of Law and Order UK in the wardrobe/costume department, very excited! It sounds like they'll be training me up on Wednesday then, I should be going back to do some more work after, once we've worked everything out, but its quite far from where I live at the moment so I'll need to stay with my boyfriend in Portsmouth to make it less of a commute, therefore there's a fair bit to sort out, but I'll manage it! I'm not entirely sure what it is I'll exactly be doing yet, but by the sounds of it I'll be altering clothes for the actors, which will be really cool! Law and Order UK Promo cast shot If any of you are not sure what Law and Order UK is, it is a ITV crime series based in the court room, any of my American readers will probably know what it is, as it did start off as an American series and then we have adopted it. How to Survive a Fashion Degree

Hi everyone, sorry again for going a long time without a post, I've had another run of bad luck! The first being the house has been burgled, so much has been taken - mostly sentimental, I wont go into it any further otherwise I'll just get grumpy again. The second lot was I've been in hospital; I'm all fine now though :). Anyway on to what I was actually posting about... A Guide to Surviving a Fashion Degree First off as much as you may not like this some of it will be the usual things that your tutors will constantly drum into you all year, sorry but unfortunately quite a bit of it is true! 1.) Plan your work out in advance - Yes you may do what I used to and go into a sulky teenager insisting that you can't predict the future or you don't know when you'll be ready or "inspired" to make something, but its tough you've got to do it and it actually works! So plan what you want to have achieved by the end of each week, trust me

I'm Back... and Officially a Bachelor of Arts!

Sorry for my lack of posts over the last few months, its been very busy what with my holiday, graduating, family visits and moving house, not to mention my very temperamental internet that only decides to work properly once in a blue moon! But I'm back! My internet is more stable too yay! Anyway! I did promise you holiday snaps, however you'll have to wait a little while longer for them as my other half is still scanning them in and editing the others, but I promise I will have them soon! For now though, you can see my graduation, I'm now officially a Bachelor of Arts, my full degree title is BA Hons in Fashion and Textile Design with Enterprise, its all very exciting and its finally sunk in that I'm no longer a student, which I'm actually excited about where as before I was just scared! Here are some photographs from my special day... My Boyfriend The Parents My most attractive face! I wasn't impressed "If

Sewing Room/Studio Almost Complete!

Not quite the post you were expecting, but I'm getting there :). I've been busy all this week getting my rooms unpacked and organised, this is how my sewing room/studio is looking so far... the pile of clothes is some of the stuff I have made, it is sat there awaiting the rail that I'll be buying for it in the next couple of week. Draws all organised, I'm yet to find more threads, pins and so on as I'm still unpacking but it is easier to unpack now it all has a place. Sewing machines and my easel :) My little corner that will soon have more family photographs in it, so I have something to make me smile when I'm stressed with work. Old work hung on the wall to help inspire me Beautiful sewing machine on loan, that is now my favourite to use. Drawer attachment, very handy! Even though its old it still does a fair amount, and it even does embroidery! Very impressed. The back... Just beautiful, it run

Moving House

Sorry I haven't been around much lately I've been moving back home, as I've now finished University! It's all very exciting. So as you can probably imagine I have a lot of unpacking to do... a lot would be an understatement! I filled up a whole transit van all to myself and I've taken up 2 large rooms and one small room of all my stuff. Luckily enough I still have internet, however I have that much stuff to unpack I'm not going to post as much as I would like, in the next couple of days (when I find it) I will be publishing how far I've got with my baby and toddler range of clothing so keep checking back, just bare with me because I have a lot to do, in so little time, as in a few days time I'll also be going on holiday to Tenerife, a little treat from my lovely boyfriend :) I'll make sure I post some holiday snaps! No doubt I'll use it to inspire my next lot of work :) Again apologises for the lack of blogging but here's why...  This

"Fabric that doesn't bleed"

I knew fur was bad, and ever since I looked into the fur industry I had started to gain a hatred of leather too, because I figured it would be similar... I never realised just how similar! Here's the fabulous designer Stella McCartney's view of leather, and I have to say I 100% agree with her! Finished watching it? Now you know why its not good to use or wear leather. It's totally disgusting what animals go through just so "we" can have "luxurious" fabrics, you can buy synthetic fabrics nowadays which mimic both fur and leather, and if you know where to go you can find really high quality versions (Ebay is one of them), so please stop and think before you do! SJ x P.S If you still really want to wear fur or leather, you could always go to vintage shops/festivals or charity shops and buy coats etc from there, that way at least its recycling...

Delirious Dinos

After discovering Redbubble on saturday, I figured I'd make some more designs just for Redbubble, aimed more towards the market that I interpret they bring in. So say Hello to my Delirious Dino Range, which are all made for t-shirts, posters, cards, post cards, framed prints, iPhone/iPod cases, baby grows, hoodies and much more!! In the range you'll find Tea Rex - for all you tea addicts out there, Pandasaurus - for the Panda obsessed like me out there, Tee Rex - for all those that love their quirky t-shirts, and Geekasaurus - for all my fellow geeks, haha. Tea Rex is my personal favourite, he was also my first design. I just love him and his vintage little bow tie so much :) All of them were first drawn with pencil and paper which I then scanned in to bring them over to photoshop, where they were neatened up, colour was added and they were blown up or cropped to the appropriate sizes for the different mediums they are available on.
