The Weird and Wonderful Inspirational Helen Storey

Whilst searching for inspiration and research into my project I found these weird and wonderful beauties, so I thought I'd share them with you.

They're by a designer named Helen Storey, who I'm sorry to say I had never heard of, but I can assure you I'll be looking at more! Although I'd never wear such dresses, I can't help but find them so inspirational! They're made so beautifully, and every little detail has been considered so well, they are simply perfect in a weird and wonderful way.

The Lung dresses, Cell Division dress, and the Implantation dress in particular I find even more inspiring and they're my favourites, I'm sure you'll spot the connections between them and my work with the lungs and general shapes, but I'll let you make your own mind up for which are your favourites!

HELEN STOREY FOUNDATION

"Founded in 1997 by Helen Storey and Caroline Coates, the Helen Storey Foundation was created in response to a project that required a brand new way of working. Helen had embarked on a collaboration that made a profound contact with the world of science, a ‘mindshift’ that has been the driving force behind all the Foundation’s subsequent projects. In the years since this venture, numerous conversations and relationships have been at the heart of work that has crossed many boundaries, particularly those of art, science, engineering, new media, technology, architecture and education."

  2. These are really something! I can't lie and say that linking the name to the garment didn't kind of weird me out because it did :/ (I can't even talk about anything to do with biology/the body without my hands going a little numb- people had to take notes for me in school haha) but I really do love "Implantation" and the "Sperm" dress
