Special Delivery and Toiling

Much to my excitement a very special package arrived the other day... MY DIGITAL PRINTS! Yay! :D

Had to wait till I could get into the studio to photograph it though as its to bit to big to lay out at home, didn't really have enough left over space in the studio either to be honest, its 3 meters by 1.5 meters. It's my previous images from the last post finally printed out onto polyester jersey - still feels lovely and soft though, very high quality fabric so you can't tell the difference :) But I had to have the polyester version so it could be colourset which means I can get it wet and it wont wash off or run :D

Well chuffed! My band balance might not be after it cost me £170, but I don't care right now, I'm just super happy with how it came out :D

This section is of the images enlarged/repeated so I can turn them into the slouch top I showed you in a previous post.

While I'm posting I figured I'd show you some more updates of the clothes I'm making... They're really simple but with interesting details, they're designed more to showcase the print, I didn't want to add in to much detail when pattern cutting because I didn't want it to become to much. Once dully made up I think they'll be a nice balance between the two :)
This is the maxi dress, its just a toile (which means a practice version) the real one will be hand printed :)

Here's the skirt - still need to fiddle with it a bit more as it doesn't quite sit right, however I think it'll look much better when its printed and bound too :)

That's all from me, hopefully you'll have a toile of my cape to see tomorrow. :)

Digital Prints

So tomorrow is time to send off the digital prints, I figured I let you look at what I've done first...

These to a both done using the glass brain I made, I photocopied it then scanned it in and turned the darkness up on it, to create this black brain.

These are my glass buttons  - the background was created by taking a close up shot of the above black brain.

This one reminds me of bubble wrap so I have sent a few of them to print so I can melt plastic and bubble wrap into them :)

These are the buttons I said reminded me of 101 Dalmatians with the black outerlined buttons behind. I then played around with the transparency.

This is one of my favourites! I just love it, its my curled buttons, I scanned them in and played around with the hue/saturation to bring out the blue colour more. I placed a gradient behind it. I then melted bubble wrap, took an unclose blurred photo of it in order to create this glitter/flare effect, I then played around with the transparency and placed it on top of the original file, and this is the outcome. CAN'T WAIT TO SEE IT ON FABRIC!!

This is very similar to the above buttons one, I just wanted to see which came out best on fabric :)

This is a close up of the glass brain, I over sharpened it to bring out the more detail, played around with the hue/saturation (+20) to bring out the cyan more. After that I changed the transparency so it wasn't to bright and still fit in with my colour palette.

This again is another favourite! Its very space age. Its one of my larger buttons scanned in, the background is melted plastic from below which I adjusted the transparency of, and placed a gradient behind, I then placed the above close up bubble wrap layer on top of it. I played around with the hue/saturation again of each layer to gain the right colours :).

This is the melted plastic from the above image, I also placed the bubble wrap over the top again.

This is an over sharpened version of the glass brian again which I photocopied, then placed into photoshop removing all shapes of grey replacing the with black, and layering different close ups over each other with different transparency to gain this effect :).

This is the glass brain repeated.

This is 3 buttons, two for the back ground and one for the above xray. I played around with hue/saturation and transparencies, along with added brushes and polyerising the above button to gain this effect.

The whole lot is being printed in A3 samples. I'm also getting a few meters split up with bigger prints of a few, and also some smaller ones done and 2 head scarfs! The whole lot is 3 meters and is costing me £170, which is expensive, but all places are the same, just this place the colours come out beautiful! Its from fabricad! I will upload it when its here!! So excited! :D

Button's Almost Complete

Button Making almost complete...

Here's all the finished ones, I love them all for different reasons, they're all so unique and they definitely fit with my sketchbook, so they'll fit nicely with my garments to when they're made, which I'll be getting into again this week again, I'll update you on my process :)

These I think would maybe look nice on a necklace so I think I'll use them for that instead, which will be good for my photoshoot, I plan on doing a few necklaces with the left over buttons to.

Coloured clay, not as dark as we'd expected but they still fit with my colour palette and I really like them

These remind me of 101 Dalmatians haha, still love them though.

Thinking of using these on the cape I'm going to make I think they'll fit best with the design, we'll see once its part made up.

They're pure white so the flash blew them out but they're quite nice.

BIG buttons! :D

More coloured clay...

These had bits on top but they cracked and fell off, but I like them plain anyway, love the way the colour has bled into them.

Coloured clay again.

Stretched coloured clay, it makes a skin effect.

Last of the coloured clay and finished buttons...

Buttons waiting to be fired, they'll come out darker and shiny I'll show you once they are done. The white ones also have crackle glaze on, which once in the cilm it cracks and goes deep into the cracks and shows them up more, you then go over them with acrylic ink to show it up even more, but as I said I'll show you once they're done.

This isn't mine, but when putting my buttons in the line to be glaze fired, I found this! Some TOTALLY AWESOME person made a panda, its so awesome, I so love pandas, perhaps maybe a tiny bit obsessed... but yeah, its EPIC and I love it, so thought I'd share it with you :)

That's all from me tonight, hopefully have something more to show you tomorrow.
